FAQ

Q: How do I know that these students are legitimate?

A: All students currently considered by iPivoted were referred by a school’s financial office or by a local educational foundation who knows them well. These featured students are who they say they are. As the pool of students expands, iPivoted will use independent third party confirmation of student eligibility for scholarships.

Q: How do I know that iPivoted is legitimate?

A: iPivoted’s leadership has a long history of service to the community and community recognition for it. We are here because we are passionate about helping people reach their potential. You can learn more about who we are here.

Q: Are there any geographic limitations?

A: For now, the students and educational institutions must be located in California unless written advanced approval is received.  We are not taking any additional applications from students at this time.

Q: What type of educational institutions does iPivoted work with?

A: Students may attend two-year colleges and four-year universities in degreed programs. Students may also attend technical or vocational schools that provide a professional certification. The school may be public or private. However, the school must be a non-profit school. iPivoted will not provide funds for scholarships at for-profit schools at this time.

Q: Where does the donated money go? Does it go directly to the students?

A: The board will select specific students to receive scholarships.  Once the board has selected specific students, the board will direct funds from the general scholarship fund to be transferred to the educational institution’s scholarship office. The scholarship office confirms that the student is enrolled full time and meets the institution’s minimum requirements to receive a scholarship. Then the institution’s scholarship office disburses a check. The student must physically go to his scholarship office to pick up his funds.

Q: How does iPivoted fund its operations?

A: A 15 percent fee added to scholarship donations covers operating expenses.  As iPivoted's scholarships volume increases, the 15 percent fee will decrease to 10 percent or less.

Q: What are the other requirements for students?

A: Be gracious. Students are required to follow general thank you requirements.

Q: What about next semester? When can students submit requests for further funding?

A: Scholarships are funded on a semester basis. Once a student receives her first disbursement check from her institution’s scholarship office, she can apply to iPivoted to receive funds for that following semester. The scholarship office’s disbursement demonstrates student compliance with the school’s requirements.

Q: Can iPivoted also be used to payoff college debt accrued in the past?

A: No, unfortunately. Scholarships cannot be applied retroactively.
